Karimun Jawa

Hey guys, welcome to my Travelling blog. In this current entry, I will be talking about one of the tourist attraction in Indonesia. Anyways, my name is Farrel and today I'm going to talk about Karimun Jawa, a tourist attraction consisting of one main island and several other smaller ones.

Karimun Jawa is filled with many beautiful coral reefs and beaches. If diving is not to your taste, then you can venture to the main island and maybe visit the mangrove plantation, just don't get lost. This is my first blog from me so I don't really know what to do but I guess I have to review the subject? But anyway, I hope I can do a good job in this one.

OK, first how to get there. There are many ways to get there. From Semarang or Jepara, ship or plane. There are many choices to pick like for example the Pelni Cruise Ship or Bahari Express ship that will only take 30 minutes to get to Karimun Jawa.

Just as said above, the coral reefs are beautiful, and so is the view especially when sunrise or sunset. Both are almost the same but whatever. The tour guides are friendly too, well if you pick the right one that is. They are all locals and not in a tour company or something like that. They also prepare the necessary equipment needed for snorkeling or diving. They are all in good condition (I think) and is 100% use able.

Aside from coral viewing, we can also swim with sharks. There is this one place only reachable by boat that has sharks in one or two pool. You are allowed to swim with them, if you are brave enough. The sharks won't bite. After all, death by shark attacks annually are very low. It is the complete opposite, we are the one killing them. They won't bite as long you don't do anything harsh to them. The place also has their own hotel (well if you can call it that, at least people can stay there for a price). Other than that, there is banana boat riding and something else that is similar to a banana boat riding but they are not riding on a banana.

The hotels and home stay in Karimun Jawa is good. Well I never stayed in a home stay but I'm sure they are good. A hotel I would recommend is D'Season. Once, we tried to book there but we had to wait for a customer to finish using their room. So that probably means the hotel is usually full. It has its own pool and I think also a private garage, I think. Breakfast is also prepared by them and the food is delicious, sadly they ran out of noodles before I could get more. And the room is very cold, its like living in a refrigerator. It's probably to counter the hot and sunny day, but It wasn't that sunny for me.

The food there is also delicious, there is this one place called Warung Makan Bu Ester and that place is famous among tourist and locals. Every time we visit Karimun Jawa, we would go there to eat lunch. And If you are worried about lunch while going on an island tour, food will be prepared by the tour guides. Well as long as one of your destination is Pulau Cilik or Cilik Island. Usually, the tour guide will jump of the boat with a harpoon on hand and flippers while on the way to the island to hunt for fish. While doing so, the tourist get to snorkel around the island. Well not around the whole island, but still. The guide will come back with raw fish fresh from the ocean and burn them. Rice is also prepared by them, maybe. I don't know about you guys but surely they will.

Now the negative thing about Karimun Jawa. I don't think there is anything negative about it, it's just getting in and out of Karimun Jawa. Weather is unpredictable, and rain and wind may come down at any time. Because of this, you wont know when your trip to and back will be postponed.

Oh and another thing, this is a note from someone who had experience. Do not go to Karimun Jawa at around the month of August. The island will be filled with jellyfishes and swimming would be a suicide mission, except if you were able to make it out alive. My brother was once attacked by a jellyfish resting by a shore. We thought it was a rice bag buried under the sand and waving because of the water. Me and my brother got close to it and we both got a sting from it. I suffered less but I wish I didn't. My brother had burn marks covering most of his body. I wish I was the one suffered most or maybe made it equal so we felt the same pain, but we cant change the past, we can only learn from it.

Anyway, moving away from the 'galau' part of the story. Overall, Karimun Jawa is a good holiday destination if you are into diving and beaches, unless the beach you like is the one in the front page of your magazine and has girls posing on it. Jokes aside, Karimun Jawa good, yes? I found a good website where you can order tour packages. Here is the link http://www.karimunjawainfo.com/. My name is Farrel and thank you for reading my review or promotion on Karimun Jawa!
